THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT CONCLUDES:

The Salmon are Safe

The EIS confirms that the project will protect salmon and that the plan to develop the Pebble Deposit will not result in long-term changes to the health of the Bristol Bay (ES 87) and Cook Inlet Fisheries (4.6-4).

“There would be no measurable change in the number of returning salmon”

THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT CONCLUDES:

The Water is Protected

Everything depends on clean water, from fish to people to wildlife. According to the EIS, there would be no effects on any community groundwater or surface water supplies from the changes in groundwater flows at the mine site (ES 67).

“Changes in flow are unlikely and are expected to be within historic and seasonal variation

THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT CONCLUDES:

The Tailings are Secure

The EIS notes that there is “no relevant comparison” between publicly-cited dam failures and the proposed design (K4.27-13/14). The bedrock foundation, dry storage, and construction methods secure the tailings (K4.27-3/4).

“The design is especially distinct when compared to historic mines experiencing large failures”
